Harvest Notes: 2004 was an ideal growing year for Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. A virtually perfect amount of rainfall coupled with a long ripening period lead to some very high quality and very flavorful fruit. Two separate heat waves late in the season brought the small crop to maturity quickly and most winemakers ended up harvesting all their fruit within a four week period.
Winemaker's Notes: Single Vineyard: The Meteor Vineyard is in the Eastern Hills just south of Napa at the sight of the old Stagecoach road. The owner brought us in to help develop a plan for this vineyard as a top notch, Coombsville District Cabernet Ranch. The soil is loamy with large soft ball-sized cobble stone. Our 2004 Meteor Single Vineyard Cab offers a unique blend of flavors coupled with an elegant and satisfying mouth feel. With overlapping aromas of anise and cola, this wine immediately draws you in to its complex elegance which is epitomized by the soft yet mouth-filling texture that offers up subtle doses of warm, white chocolate and vanilla. The unique flavors brought out by the terroir of this vineyard in South Napa demanded that we bottle some of this special wine on its own to give wine-lovers the opportunity to share in our enjoyment.
